David and Victor met while attending Rhode Island School of Design from 2017-2019. Both graduates completing their Masters of Industrial Design, they were assigned randomly as partners for a week long design charratte. Each group was charged with the design brief of creating a game (card game, board game, etc+) that imparted knowledge in some respect on the users through the guise of play.

The result was a laser etched paper card deck of 81 patterns and a handmade box.

WALDAMI® is a game of logic, pattern recognition, and restrained style. Table surfaces are decorated by the resulting pattern combinations played and are never the same! Base geometry was leveraged as a design graphic so that every player, regardless of age, could easily understand the visual language. From its conception, to selling out within hours of its Beta Edition at the RISD Alumni and Student Sale in 2018, to its debut at Spiel ‘19 Essen (Germany), David and Victor have sought to create something both unique and of quality as a game, and as a designed object.

WALDAMI® was manufactured locally in Rhode Island | USA. We have been very fortunate to work with so many great individuals who have helped us along the way to create a product that meets our vision and standards!

Each box was individually hand constructed and wrapped. While this first run used printed cards, we had already identified and began to experiment with the process of letter-pressing.
